  • Monday – No Band Hall before school
  • Morning practice – arrive by 7:45
  • After school – Band Hall closes at 5:15 each day (pick up no later than 5:30!)
  • Friday – No Band Hall after school

  • Tuesday & Thursday, May 5 & 7 – 7:45AM
  • DMS Band Hall

Beginning Band Rehearsals

  • Rehearsal # 1 – Monday, May 11 from 4:20-5:30PM
  • Rehearsal # 2 – Tuesday, May 12 from 7:45-8:45AM
  • DMS Band Hall (drop off/pick up outside the DMS Band Hall)
  • Required for performance in Spring Concert and Festival Trip
  • Eligibility based on pass-offs of Spring Concert Music

Spring Concert

  • Tuesday, May 12 @ 6:30PM
  • Rodgers Auditorium
  • Be in your seat ready for warm up at 6:00PM
    • Beginning Band – in Rodgers with parents (wait to be called to the stage)
    • Honor Band – On stage
    • Symphonic Band – DHS Band Hall
    • Concert Band – DMS Band Hall
  • HB, SB, CB wear uniform
  • Beginning Band dress nice!
  • Reception to follow. Sign Up to Help!

Beginning Band Festival

  • Friday, May 15
  • Rodgers Auditorium, Main Event-Katy
  • Eligible Beginning Band students
    • Eligibility based on Scales, Concert Music, Academic Eligibility (T3)
    • Eligible students will receive a permission slip
  • Meet at DMS Band Hall at 8:30AM
  • Wear Band Shirt, Jeans/Khakis, Tennis Shoes
  • DMS Beginning Band performs at 9:00AM – Parents are invited to attend (in Rodgers Auditorium)
  • Travel by bus to Main Event for lunch and games after performance.
  • Return to DMS by 2:00 (use normal mode of transportation to go home)
  • Sign up to chaperone!

Band Auditions

  • Wednesday-Thursday, May 13-14 (during class)
  • DMS Band students
  • Perform Major Scales and Audition Etude

Solo Rehearsals

  • Honor, Symphonic, Concert & Select Beginning Band Members
  • DMS Band Hall
  • Rehearsals with accompanist (pianist) for Solo & Ensemble
  • Rehearsal # 1 – Monday, May 18th
  • Rehearsal # 2 – Thursday, May 21st
  • Individually scheduled times (posted in the band hall)
  • Pay accompanist $25 at first rehearsal

Full Orchestra Recording Concert

  • Tuesday, May 19th @ HCU (7502 Fondren Rd, Houston, TX 77074)
  • Full Orchestra Members
  • Bring Uniform to school to change before traveling
  • Travel to HCU by bus (leave after 3rd period)
  • Performance begins at 4:00PM
  • Parents are invited to attend (HCU Dunham Theatre)

Solo & Ensemble

  • Friday, May 22
  • DMS Band Hall & Cafeteria
  • Honor, Symphonic, Concert & Select Beginning Band Members
  • Individual performance times (posted in the band hall)
  • Dress nice! No, jeans, t-shirts, tennis shoes, etc.
  • Parents are welcome to come in and listen to their child’s performance.

School-Owned Instrument Return

  • Friday, May 22 (drop off instrument any time on or before May 22)
  • Inventory check (all instruments must be returned)
  • DMS Band Hall
  • School-Owned instruments only (not those rented from Music and Arts)
  • Returning students can pick up their instruments on Wednesday & Thursday (5/27 & 5/28) for summer.
